FILMMAKING /VIDEOGRAPHY

20+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE (ON/OFF)

I have a very well established/documented history of leading film expeditions to stylistically capture the best of Mongolia across all seasons and all terrains; from 2000-03 for USAID funded The Competitiveness Initiative‘s Destination Films & Short Documentaries about Mongolia; from 2004 USAID Ger Initiative‘s advancing ger district-based entrepreneurs [urban slums] and their business endeavors via tailor-made infomercials; etc. As of today, I’ve stock piled well over 500+ hours of digital cassettes, yes digital cassettes, about Mongolia – since then we’ve all moved onto solid-state cameras, drones, gopros, etc… hence, I have a well documented history of videography, audio and video editing.

SHOOTING BEFORE 2000 till today around the world

Before the era of stock footages resources and working on international productions as a fixer/production manager/producer, my roots go way back when I was shooting/editing and making many short marketing videos and documentary films for the country of Mongolia and its industry/companies that started around 1998; in fact, a couple of my films ended up as the “centerpiece” films for National Geographic’s D.C. Museum (Mongolia Traditions: Rebirth) and Rubin Art Museum in New York (Tsam).

PROOF OF MY HISTORIC FILMMAKING TIMELINE:
MY “FIRST” DOCUMENTARY – 2002

Amarbayasgalant – The Ancient Hidden Gem

Cut down versions of this documentary became the centerpiece films at both National Geographic Museum in Washington D.C. and Rubin Art Museum in New York.

Before this Documentary I was mainly shooting short informericals (short marketing videos) to advance Mongolia’s meat, cashmere and tourism industries – part of my USAID funded The Competitiveness Initiative works. We all have our “first” and this is mine – zero shame 😉 Back in those days – it was 100% about the skill of the videographer, natural lighting (waiting for the sun/ moon/ clouds/ etc.) and chasing the incredible moments! Please note that my skill sets have greatly evolve over the decades – but for the most part this documentary is well shot, just old school transitions/editing styles which has evolved over the last couple decades… I shot this documentary (alone) via two Sony PD150s, I operated dual cameras myself, recorded the audio myself and mixed the soundtracks myself, edited via Premiere Pro myself, etc… the script (by Michelle Morgan) and the narration by (David – UB Post). Lastly, this was a volunteer initiative to raise funds for Mongolia’s Amarbayasgalant Monastery repairs… as you’ll see “Adventure-Studio.com“, this was my first Media Company that I founded in Mongolia (2002/03-ish) after my USAID Works.
